Pasquale Zito's return to the OHL and Windsor Spitfires was short lived. The Napean, Ontario native has stepped away after five games. "The timing is unfortunate." said Spits general manager Bill Bowler.
The 20-year old was a second round pick by the Spits in 2019. He had 3 goals and 3 assists since returning to Windsor earlier this month.
Zito scored a pair of goals and had a career-high five points in his first game back. He closes out his OHL career with 42 goals, 65 assists for 107 points.
"We will have to deal with it like any other departure or injury," said Bowler whose team will also be without forward Owen Outwater for the rest of the season due to injury. "We will use our affiliate players and the LaSalle Vipers as required.
Windsor is currently last in the Western Conference with 14 wins and 32 points. The Spits trail Flint by nine points for the final playoff spot with 23 games left on their schedule.
