Luc Warnock and Alek Mauro are the only Windsor-Essex golfers that made the cut at the Canadian Men's Amateur Championships. Warnock had a 1-over-70 while Mauro carded a 5-over-76.
Warnock almost dropped an eagle on his final hole of the day. His approach on the 9th hole bounced once on the green before barely missed the cup. That drew gasps from the gallery before the Lajeunesse grad finished off his two-foot putt.
Mauro started the day strong with three birdies in his first four holes and was one-under at the turn. However, the Detroit Mercy golfer bogey'd four holes on the back nine to sour the momentum. He hopes to rebound Thursday like Warnock did on Tuesday when he went from an opening round 80 to a 65.
