(Video) Lakeshore takes 2-0 series lead

The Lakeshore Canadiens skated away with what looked like a convincing 7-3 win Friday night at home. "I thought the game was good," said Canadiens head coach Anthony Iaquinta. "I think it was a lot closer than the score suggests. We scored on a lot of our chances but still need to clean up in a few areas. Overall, we were pretty happy with the effort and need to be ready to go on Sunday."

Check out some of the goals in the video below brought to you by the St. Clair College Alumni Association and shot by our Anthony Scalzo.

Julian Gignac led the way for the Canadiens with a pair of goals and two assists while Nick Bolton turned aside 29 shots for the win. "I think Julian has come a long way this year," Iaquinta said of his 16-year old forward. "We know he has a good shot and can score but these last few weeks his compete level has been so much better. When he’s battling on pucks and working hard away from the puck he is a really good player and I think last night proved that."

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
