UWindsor men's volleyball opens at nationals

The Lancer men's volleyball team opens the national championship tournament this afternoon against the defending champs (#3 seeded) from the University of Alberta. First serve is at 3pm. "We're super excited to get a chance to play on the national stage here in Brandon," said 4th year middle Darian Koskie. "We've been training hard all year and know that we can trust our training and put our best foot forward."

The team has gotten over the disappointment of losing the OUA final at home against Queen's earlier this month and have used the experience to prepare for the USports tournament. "Obviously it wasn't the result we wanted but we've refocused since then and have used that loss to push ourselves to be our best here in the quarterfinal match."

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
