Total revamp on the St. Clair soccer pitch

Training camp doesn't start until August 14th but St. Clair College women's soccer coach Steve Vagnini didn't want to wait until then to solidify his roster. "We'll be able to follow them, keep an eye on them early this way come training camp it's not just a couple of week of ok we've gotta get this down."

Ten new players were introduced at the Sportsplex Friday: Layla Hutson, Abby Redmond, Talia Liburdi, Jessica Doll, Alessia Olivito, Ellie Voakes, Scotlyn Fick, Leah Burrell, Lily Jas and Alexis Costantin.

All ten play travel ball locally for Windsor TFC, Tecumseh and Caboto. Vagnini also signed four players from the GTA in December.

"We're young. We're going to be together for a few years. Let's go for it."

Vagnini says he wanted a clean slate heading into next season after his team finishing 2022 with a 2-7-1 record. He is not afraid to enter the fall semester with a roster packed with rookies. "We're gonna play the way we train." said Vagnini. "I believe in these kids. They have the talent to be successful. If I can't bring that out it's on me."

Vagnini could have introduced each player individually with separate signings but opted to do a big event at the Sportsplex because he wanted the players to feel like a family and team.
