St. Clair football has something to prove

With the home opener nine days away the St. Clair Saints football team is on a mission to wipe out the bad taste that still lingers from last year's loss to London in the OFC final. "Couldn't be more than the truth." said head coach Mike Lachance.

The Saints open the season at home August 13th against the Quinte Skyhawks.

St. Clair will have 49 new players on the roster this season as they bid to win their first OFC championship since clinching back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

Lachance feels his team may have gotten caught looking too far ahead last season. "Not that we overlooked London last year but there was some thoughts of something bigger than that and we let it slip. We didn't concentrate obviously for the full game. That's coaching and that's not gonna happen again."

St. Clair dominated the regular season running the table with an 8-0 record while scoring 438 points and allowing only 91. Lachance believes this year's team could be better. "It's gonna be a fun team to really watch. This defence is going to be something special.
