In this edition of the Sports Flashback Margaret Canty shows us the first belt she won as a professional boxer. In her first first title attempt in February of 1999 Canty was a heavy underdog against IWBF and WIBF bantam weight champion Eva Young on Kansas City. The fight was held at an awkward time of the day but she was ready nonetheless. Canty says the lessons she learned from that split decision set up a successful five-year pro career. Hear the story in the following video brought to you by the St. Clair College Alumni Association. Canty finished with a career eight wins and one draw.
