Spits back in their routine

Updated: Dec 7, 2024

With no game Thursday the Windsor Spitfires were able to break routine which, in the world of psychology, is a good thing for many reasons. Team captain Liam Greentree feels there's a pit that needs to be avoided when routine is broken. "It's always a little too dangerous, get a little comfy," Liam Greentree told Poweprlay Sports, with a big chuckle. "Two days off is always nice to have."

With five wins in their last six games the pause wasn't necesarily needed but good for the team. So was their last win at Owen Sound Saturday after getting shell-shocked the night before in Guelph. "That was a huge game for us."

It was also a big game for the captain who recorded a four-point night which moved him into the top 5 in the OHL scoring race with 17 goals and 44 points in 26 games, tied for 4th. "It's super cool to be part of the top-5 but I think for me I've just been focusing on the things that I need to do to make sure I can make it in the next level."

Speed and defensive play are what the Los Angeles Kings encouraged Greentree to work on and NHL prospect feels he is getting points as a result of his commitment.

The Spits host Kitchener Saturday night. "We beat them two times and know they are going to come out really hungry."
