Scoring runs in the Kennedy family

When Thomas Kennedy became the University of Windsor's all-time leading scorer he joined his sister Shannon as record holder. "We've always joked that, it's a little brother thing, he will never claim that he's better than me until he beats a record so he can now officially claim that he is the best Kennedy basketball player in the house." Shannon said following Thomas' record-setting night last Friday against Guelph.

Thomas ended his regular season career with 1,479 points, two better than former Lancer Enrico Diloreto (2009-2014).

However, Shannon's record should not go unnoticed. She broke the St. Clair school record in 2016 and finished her career as the OCAA scoring leader with 1,401 points between 2013-2018.

There is another parallel between each of their school records. Find out what that is in the video below.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
