Salinitri continues pro hockey career in Italy

Windsor's Anthony Salinitri is back in Italy for a second season. The former Windsor Lancers forward scored 21 goals and added 25 assists in 39 games in his first season with Asiago. "I really loved it." said the 24-year old.

"If you play any of the top seven teams in the ALPS League it was equivalent to I would say in-between the East Coast Hockey League and the AHL."

Playing in Italy provided Salinitri a chance to get in touch with his roots. "To get my citizenship and to be able to do that was a big part of me going over there."

Asiago Hockey was promoted to the ICE Hockey League(International Central European Hockey League). "A little more travel. The level is a lot higher. A lot of former AHL, college and even some NHL guys so it'll be a lot more competitive."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
