The St. Clair women's volleyball team is on a five-game winning streak following a weekend sweep at the Sportsplex. The Saints made quick work of Boreal Saturday with a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-15, 25-14).
They followed it up with a 3-0 win over Cambrian Sunday (25-17, 25-16, 25-10). The women's are in second place in the West at 8-1 behind 9-0 Humber. "What's working well right now is we are being consistent with the ball at all our touches, especially our attack and serve." said head coach Julie Milling.
The Saints close off the first semester on the road next weekend at Sheridan (2-7) December 2nd and Humber on the 3rd. "After the weekend we played, both those teams (Boreal and Cambrian) we went right to getting better on how to challenge ourselves and make changes that will put the other teams in trouble." said Milling. "Looking to do that to them (Sheridan and Humber) when we head there."
The men also swept the weekend winning 3-1 against Boreal Saturday and 3-0 against Cambrian Sunday. "I felt we played a little flat yesterday but today we came out with some fire and energy and we played one of the best games of the season so far." said head coach Shawn Reaume. "Awesome to see them turnaround and take down a good solid team in three." The Golden Shield came into Sunday's contest having handed Fanshawe only their second loss of the season Saturday. The men are now tied for first with Niagara at 7-2. The Falcons are third at 6-2.
The Saints head to Sheridan (1-7) and Humber (5-4) to close out the first semester next weekend. Reaume says his game plan at practice this week is simple. "Work on doing whatever we did today." Reaume said with a big laugh. "Everything was good today.
