The first inning set the tone for opening night at St. Clair College's new South Campus Field. The first pitch was a strike thrown by Amy Claydon in the top of the first. The first hit was a double to the wall by St. Clair's lead off hitter Shae-Lyn Murphy.
The Saints scored eight runs in the opening frame and cruised to an 11-1 victory over the Humber Hawks in their season opener.
Murphy and Sarah Vellinga each went 3-3 at the plate. Judy Lafleur hit a first inning triple to clear the bases and had four runs batted in.
Amy Claydon pitched four innings allowing 2 hits and one earned run while striking out six Hawks. Rya Cowan closed out the game with a clean inning as St. Clair opened with an 11-1 win over Humber.
The Saints dropped five first inning runs en route to a 14-5 win in the nightcap. Claydon went 2-3 with 4 rbi's. Murphy went 4-5 which included the first homer hit at the stadium. St. Clair is in London Saturday to play Durham and Mohawk before closing out the weekend Sunday against Seneca and Humber.
The team returns home September 24th against Fanshawe (4pm) and Conestoga (8pm).
