The St. Clair women's basketball team had comfortable 14 point lead heading into the 4th quarter of their cross-over game at Loyalist Saturday afternoon. Leading 60-46, the Saints were outscored 21-9 in the final frame but managed to eek out a 69-67 win to advance to the provincial championships next weekend.

"Our kids proved to be the better team and showed good character too. We had foul issues and found a way to get it done and we're happy about it." said head coach Andy Kiss.

Alyssa Lucier led St. Clair with 22 points. Janae Smith pitched in 16 while Grace Smrke was a force on the boards pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds before fouling out.

Kiss says the win was a true team effort.

"Everybody, not just the kids that are playing the most minutes but even the kids on the bench with their positive vibes. We're thrilled with the win. We're moving on and looking forward to the next one."

Kiss anticipate playing Lambton in their first game at the Final 8 next Friday.
