The St. Clair basketball programs continue to add pieces they hope will take them to the next level.
The men's team added guard Tyvel Peters and forward Chevon Taylor. "They fill holes we need. One's a scorer and the other is a big man". said co-head coach Brendon Seguin.
Peters is transferring from Lambton College where he averaged 21.5 points per game in 2018-19. With three years of experience in the OCAA Seguin fells the North York native gives his offence a boost. "Last year with Gomez missing it was hard to replicate what we lost so adding Peters adds depth and a 1-2 scoring punch"
The Saints are also high on Taylor who is 6'7 and strong around the rim. "Chevy is an extremely hard worker and projects as an important piece of the roster for the next few years". said Seguin. The Saints are hoping to get beyond the quarterfinals where they bowed out to Seneca this past sesaon.
On the women's side, head coach Andy Kiss has added his 8th recruit with 6''0 forward Keneisha Williams coming over from Hazel Park, Michigan. "We filled needs with this recruiting class"
Williams comes out of Ferndale High where she was named an All-District Player and was named Defensive Player twice.
"Keneisha can knock down the 15-foot jump shot and will be an asset on the boards with her length. "said Kiss.
Having added size, speed and depth during the off-season Kiss feels his team is well rounded. "We got size, a true point guard. we're going to really be able to enforce accountability especially on the defence end". said Kiss.
With two straight silver medals The Saints hope the third time is the charm, if they get a chance to play this season.
