Saints can't wait to start softball season

Doug Wiseman feels this year's edition of the softball team will be better than the one that won silver last fall. "Most talented group I've assembled."

The Saints announced the addition of Sierra Baltzer Wednesday. The Sandwich grad returns home after spending last season at Wayne State University on a track scholarship.

"It tightens our outfield defence up immensely by adding Sierra's outstanding speed and defensive ability along with Judy Lafleur and Tiana Lachance." said Wiseman.

Baltzer is a Windsor Wildcats grad who most recently won a bronze medal at the Canada Summer Games with Team Ontario.

"Along with Shae Murphy and Bryanna Kressler (infield transfer) the speed and havoc we are able to create will be fun to watch."

St. Clair opens the season on the road at Mohawk September 10th before making their home debut at the Sports Park the next morning.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
