Playoffs looming as Spits close out regular season

The OHL playoffs are right around the corner but the Windsor Spitfires aren't looking too far ahead. "We know there's two more games left. We still gotta get those wins. Excited for the playoffs. It'll be a good experience for everyone." said defenceman Michael Renwick.

The Spits are in Erie Friday night before closing out the regular season in Guelph Saturday. Windsor is on a 13-game win streak and haven't lost since dropping a 4-3 decision to Sarnia March 15th. "Savvy's big message to us is never be satisfied." said rookie forward Ethan Miedema. "We're just trying to keep this thing rolling."

The Spits may rest some players during the weekend but have yet to commit to a plan. "We can't sacrifice health and some other things to try and make this happen (extend winning streak)," said assistant coach Andy Delmore. "We have to come out of this weekend healthy and ready for next week."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
