Nick Niforos pro MMA debut

Updated: Aug 11, 2019

There is a lot of power in his kick and Nick Niforos will put it on display during his pro MMA debut June 15th. The 28-year old will join seven of his MTC teammates at the Prospect Fighting Championship 10 at the University of Windsor. His opponent is Dean Martins.

Niforos is a former University of Windsor football player who walked away from the gridiron after sustaining a serious groin injury. Following surgery he focused on MMA fought in the Michigan amateur scene.

His teammate Kyle Prepolec put him through a light session for the camera and absorbed the brunt of the practice kicks. The MMA fighter faced Nordine Taleb in his UFC debut earlier this year and faced a barrage of kicks. He compares the two in the video below.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
