McLean sets one of 19 personal bests for Lancers

On her first competitive shot put throw in almost two years Madison McLean set a personal best of 11.86 meters at the Windsor Lancers Reboot Meet. The Ottawa, Ontario native his 11.97 on her next throw.

McLean tied or surpassed her former best of 11.77 on two of her next four throws, "Three centimeters off of 12 meters. I'm getting close".

Throws coach Celine Freeman-Gibb says her athlete had an excellent series of throws, "That's the most consistent she's ever been in her career". McLean will look to improve on her throws next week when the Lancers host the return of the Can-Am Meet at the Fairall Fieldhouse.

Check out McLean's throws plus some pole vault makes in this video brought to you by Hogan's Printing.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
