Locals drafted to the OHL

It was a good draft year for Windsor-Essex County hockey players with eleven getting picked over the two-day OHL Draft.

Sun County forward Jaako Wycisk led the way as the 2nd overall pick of the Guelph Storm. A self-described two-way centre, Wycisk captained the Panthers this past season and had 61 points in 30 games.
"Jaakko was a very easy choice for us," Storm general manager George Burneett told guelphtoday.com. "He's a big-time player in big games. He saved his best hockey for the best competition and had big results throughout the season,"
Tecumseh's Noah Laus joined him shortly thereafter after The Soo Greyhounds picked him 7th overall. Laus played for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens this season and had 25 goals and 42 points in 33 games.
Eamon Edgar, a centre this past season with the Sun County Panthers, was taken 35th overall in the second round by the Barrie Colts. The Belle River native scored 24 goals and had 38 points in 24 games this season.
Forward Reid Hayes was the first player from Windsor AAA taken when Ottawa picked him in the third round, 53rd overall. The LaSalle native lit the lamp 25 times and had 54 points in 29 games for Matt Zuccato's team.
Brayden Lappalainen was also a third round selection. The Sun County forward was chosen by Flint after finishing with with 30 goals and 53 points in 28 games. A left winger, Lappalainen scored four goals and had two assists during Sun County's four-game run at the OHL Cup.

Luke St. John (Windsor Jr. Spitfires) 13th round to Windsor
Jordan Maine (Sun County Panthers) 15th round to Windsor
