The Forest Glade U21 Midget Girls are Ontario Select Softball Tournament Association provincial champs after a strong weekend in Brampton. The Falcons played seven games over two days and had 64 runs cross the plate while giving up 32 runs. The team played in five tournaments this summer and won gold in four. The Falcons also won a provincial title in 2019.

Windsor's Emma Mighton stood tall in net helping Ontario's U15 team win the national box lacrosse championship in Saskatchewan. Ontario beat British Columbia 4-3 in the final. "Playing with team Ontario and winning Nationals has probably been one of the best experiences I've ever felt. Everyone was so nice and made me feel like a part of the team." Mighton said.

The Caboto Soccer 2006 girls United team won the Powerade Invitational this past weekend in Michigan. The girls went undefeated in round robin, finishing first in their division and advancing to the finals. Early in the championship game, the girls found themselves down 1-0 but they came back strong, battling to the end with a 2-1 win.

The St. Clair College Saints football team opened the season with a 30-4 win over the Ottawa Sooners. "Offensively I expected a bit more." said head coach Mike Lachance. Matt Guenette started at quarterback and went 5-6 before rolling his ankle. Maurice Sodja came in and hit Javier Lewis for a touchdown as the Saints found the endzone four times in their first five possessions. Defensively the Saints held the Sooners to 70 yards of offence. "All in all it's a win." St. Clair heads to London this weekend before hosting Beefeaters September 2nd at Acumen Stadium.

Tilbury's Brett Brochu signed on to play for the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL this upcoming season. The former London Knight is the second winningest goalie in team history and helped Team Canada win gold at the World Junior Championship in 2022. The Komets open the season October 20th.

Sarah Mitton is captain of Canada's women's athletics team at the World Championships in Budapest. The UWindsor grad is a national record holder in the shotput. Over 2,000 athletes from 200 countries are in Hungary. Mitton's event takes place Saturday morning with qualifications followed by the final in the afternoon session.


Mitton breaks record in her season opening meet in Windsor.

Don Caswell, past president of the Windsor Lawn Bowling Club, is heading to the Gold Coast at Queensland in Australia for the World Bowls Championships. Caswell is Team Canada's manager. The event begins August 29th til September 10th.
