Leamington opens Friday vs Milton

The best in the West are set to begin battle Friday night in Leamington as the Flyers host the Milton Menace in the conference final. "It's going to be a great series," said Flyers head coach Dale Mitchell. "Milton is strong, physical team that can score, and they play a structured game under solid coaching."

The team's split the regular season with two wins apiece and each winning their games on home ice.

Will size matter?

The Flyers swept through their first two series while the Menace ousted last year's Centennial Cup champion, Collingwood in five games in the last round.

"It’s a battle of two very different venues," Mitchell told Powerplay Sports. "Our Olympic-sized rink versus their smaller, tighter arena. Both fan bases are fantastic, which should make for an exciting matchup."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
