The LaSalle Vipers continued to ride the wave of success and beat the Chatham Maroons 5-1 to complete a comeback from a 3-1 series deficit. The Vipers outscored the Maroons 15-4 in the final three games to clinch their best-of-seven first round series and earn a berth in the second round of the GOJHL playoffs.
The Vipers will now face the defending Western Conference champs from London starting Wednesday.
"Last series we really matured on the bench. We're holding each other accountable and encouraging each other. It's very healthy in our room right now" said head coach John Nelson.
The Nats are the four-time defending Western Conference champs and won all six contests against the Vipers during the regular season.
Nelson says, "It's obvious. They're a very skilled team. We have to calm down with the puck and make the right plays. We gotta keep the momentum going moving forward".
