Dwayne Dawson's U17 softball team started off the season as a work in progress and grew into a squad worthy of playing for a national title. The LaSalle Athletics are in New Brunswich for the Eastern Canadian Championship which begins play Thursday.

"We were able to bring them all together, work together as one unit," Dawson told Powerplay Sports. "The start of the season was rough but every tournament we seemed to improve a little bit. Great thing to see."
Dawson helped bring together players from his program in LaSalle with others from another organization because of a shortage of players in that age group.
The team picked up steam as the season progressed leading to a 4-0 record at the provincial qualifier and 6-0 at the provincial grand championships to earn their spot in New Brunswick.
"Everybody makes an error so just keep moving, support each other and that's how a team comes together. The A's open against the Kitchener Classics Thursday at 11am.
