Laramie booked vs Jackson

Windsor's TJ Laramie is training and getting ready to fight his way into the win column later this year. The 22-year old will square up against 32-year old Damon Jackson of Oklahoma at UFC Fight Night 191.

The match is set for May 1st date at a yet disclosed location. "Having a date this far out and Tj already having his weight down as we were expecting an earlier date and entering without any nagging injuries is a step in the right direction". said Rino Belcastro, Laramie's coach.

Jackson is 18-4-1 and coming off a loss to Ilia Topuria last December. Belcastro knows Laramie's opponent is game "but we really are just in the process of enjoying the training sessions and working specifically on Tj himself".

Laramie is looking to rebound from a tough loss to Darrick Minner in his UFC debut last September. "We’ll think more specifically on the opponent closer to. Being this far out and in this sport so much can change from now till then so it’s all about bringing out the best version of Tj Laramie May 1st and putting it all together on Fight night". said Belcastro.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
