The University of Windsor men's basketball team is the hottest team in the OUA. The Lancers beat 4th ranked Brock 88-75 at the Toldo Recreation Complex Friday night for their 6th straight win. "We came out and had to match their physicality." said head coach Chris Cheng. "I'm happy how the guys played except for that 4th quarter."
We'll get to that in a bit. First let's talk about the third quarter. The Lancers blew open a seven-point halftime lead outscoring the defending OUA champs 32-13 in the third frame. "I think it's just our aggression and physicality. Against a team like that you gotta match it and then you have to surpass it eventually."
Now to the 4th quarter. Windsor gave back a lot of points as Brock outscored the Lancers 27-14. The Badgers got as close as ten points but Windsor found a way to get an important bucket to offset Brock's push. One of those moments saw Najee Brown-Henderson alley opp to Thomas Kennedy for a slam dunk.
Kennedy led all scorers with 24 points. He also pulled down 15 rebounds for the double-double. Brown-Henderson had 23 points and seven assists while Sam Yohann pitched in 13 for the Lancers who have no time to savour the victory.
Windsor is at Guelph Saturday night to take on the 9-10 Gryphons. "I said to the team we just gotta make sure that we're even keel." Cheng warned. "We're staying focused. Tomorrow's a new day so we gotta win that day tomorrow."
