The University of Windsor football program has been recognized for their solid 2-0 start this season as they enter the national Top-10 rankings at #10. "It was nice for us to see it but we still have a lot of tough games to go." said 4th year offensive lineman George Una. "It's nice to get the recognition but a lot of guys are just looking forward to the rest of the season."
Una in from the start
In 2019, the Toronto native had just completed a freshman season that saw the Lancers go 1-7 for a third straight year when head coach J-P Circelli took over the program. "J-P came up to me and let me know that I'd be a big part in the turnaround." said Una who is a team captain. "As the years went on he started bringing in really good recruits, really good people on and off the field."
After a 4-4 season and a playoff appearance last fall the Lancers have gotten off to a 2-0 start in 2023 with wins over McMaster and Guelph. "It's definitely a great feeling to see things make a whole 360 from the program, our academic performance, our new locker room, the turnout from the community."
"It's a great milestone for our program, in particular the student-athletes, coaches and support staff who are passionate and work tirelessly on a daily basis." said head coach J-P Cricelli.
