Laj seniors earn second medal this year.

The Lajeunesse senior boys soccer team played hard to get to the OFSAA final and fell 1-0 to the eventual champs S.C. Trinite. "In the final we just ran out of steam and they were strong in the middle and we didn't have the energy." said head coach Dom Cakarun.

Les Royals started the tournament on the right foot with a convincing 4-0 win over Delhi District High School. They tied St. Thomas Aquinas 0-0. They added a pair of wins over Stu-Benedict and Oakwood before advancing to the playoffs.

"The boys played really hard to get there. The three games on Friday were really hard." said Cakarun. "The grade 12's really stepped up throughout the tournament and showed leadership. Ciaran O'Connor, Brady Drouillard, Marcus Allen and Akili Kabano all got their second OFSAA medal this year (basketball). Really proud of the boys."

The silver is the first OFSAA medal for the boys program.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
