Kingsville Brewers win U10 tournament

Riding the play of goaltenders Coyle McMahon and Jackson Lawrie The Kingsville Brewers won the AA division at the Draftday Niagara Battle tournament this past weekend. "Our results prove our kids can stack up against any region." said head coach Brett Oliphant, a former OHL'er and Windsor Lancer.

The Brewers are a select team pooling talent from the A/AA levels in the Bluewater League. They went 3-0 in pool play and put the squeeze on defensively in a dominant 5-0 win over the Draftday Regional All-Stars in the final to win gold.

"I am so happy to be part of this team." said defenceman Vincent Pullo who plays for the Tecumseh Eagles. "Playing against players from around Ontario and from the U.S. was awesome."

Kingsville Brewery sponsors the team offering kids the opportunity to play spring hockey. "We're looking forward to our next challenge in London in a few weeks." Oliphant said.

Here is the winning moment captured by Philip Pullo (7 years old).

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
