Kennedy prepping players for next level with camp

Updated: Apr 20, 2023

Pat Osborne continues to create opportunities for young players to develop their basketball potential. Kennedy Prep is hosting a basketball showcase May 13th at Kennedy Collegiate. "I'm gonna get the top 25 kids, put them in groups, from Chatham down. Chatham, Sarnia, Windsor area and they'll just play. These guys will scout them and hopefully recruit them.

Osborne says five colleges and universities from the U.S. will be there to look at the grade 11 and 12 players between 10am and 12:30. The event is being sponsored by the Rafih Group and the Insureit Group.

It's an invite camp but Osborne says players can contact him if they are interested in being part of it. 🏀Kennedy Prep Basketball🏀 (@kennedyprepbasketball) | Instagram

Opportunities don't stop there. Osborne is working on launching a junior development team. "It's gonna be great for the grade 8's coming in and grade 9's and 10's around the area if they want the exposure from the OSBA." Osborne said.

He continues his attempt to create a girls team as well. His senior team played in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association last season and finished with a 13-5 record. With a third place finish in the B-Group Kennedy Prep has earned the right be promoted to the A-Group.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
