The first event of the Jamieson Jr. Golf tour was slowed by threatening storms Wednesday at Seven Lakes. Alex Stojcevski's group had made the turn when the horn blew suspending play. "I birdied 10 and felt like I was kinda running playing good golf and it got cut short. Things happen. It's ok". said Stojcevski who tied for fourth with a 2-over-38.
The round was turned into a nine-hole event once play resumed. Johnny Ewing of Essex Golf notched his first tour win in the jr. boys division after carding a 2-under-34. At 15, Ewing is one of the youngest players to win a tour event. He was one shot better than Konner McDermott who finished with a 35. Last year's winner, Tyler Hurtubise, finished tied with Stojcevski with a 38.
On the jr. girls side Karolyn Rombouts of Chatham's Maple City won the girls side with a 39. That was one stroke better than Kyla Charlebois of Pointe West and Kennedy Fremlin of Essex.
Willow Ridge's Aiden Webster won the Collegiate Men division after carding a 3 under 32 on the Seven Lakes back nine. Alek Mauro (Essex) and Robert McVinnie tied for second with one under 34’s.
