Holy Names win. Redemption is theirs

The Holy Names sr. girls basketball team were locked in and took care of business against Sarnia St. Pat's in a rematch of last year's SWOSSA championship. They suffocated the Irish on their home court with a convincing 43-18 win. "We played good defence tonight just like we did the other night (in the WECSSAA final) against St. Anne," said Knights head coach Sean Culhane. "We defended so well, rebounded the ball really well, stayed ball tough so I'm really proud of the girls.

Jane Pozzi scored a game-high 15 points while Maysa Arabi pitched in eleven including a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter that had the gym rockin'. The Knights held their opponents to 12 first half points and only allowed six in the second.

They now advance to OFSAA in Brampton November 21st.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
