Holy Names aiming high

The Holy Names sr. boys basketball team has been nothing short of dominant this season. They beat Sandwich 101-60 Tuesday night to move to 4-0 on the season. "Last year we lost in SWOSSAA. This year I think we have a chance to win SWOSSAA and win OFSAA." said Austin Brown who scored 16 points and was one of five Knights to hit double digit scoring.

Holy Names has beaten their first four opponents this season by an average of 48.5 points. The closest margin was a 40-point win over Lajeunesse on opening night. "I feel we're capable of doing a lot of good things this season." said Arlind Avdo who led Holy Names with 17 points. "We beat a lot of OFSAA calibre teams and I feel like we can go really far the team and chemistry we have."

Austin Brown's three-pointer helps the Knights hit the century mark for the first time this season.

Their belief comes from playing in the 65th annual University of Windsor Invitational earlier this month where they went 2-0 beating Chatham Ursuline and Sarnia Northern. "That University of Windsor tournament really showed us what we're capable of. We know we're able to beat some of the top teams now." said Brown.

"They showed well." said Windsor Lancers head coach Chris Cheng. "By far the team that executed on both ends of the floor really well."

The Knights have developed into strong team on both sides of the court. They averaged 86.5 points for while giving up an average of 38. "We're beating teams by 40 because of our defence." said Brown. "Our defence is really strong, especially our press."

"I feel like heading into Christmas break we're really confident." Avdo said. "We really feel we're like we're also gonna work on it over the Christmas break and we're gonna come back even better in the new year."
