Jake Goudreault has always been busy playing hockey but facied playing football. "I've always wanted to play football/running back, so finally getting the chance to get on the field this season has me stoked." said the Wheatley Sharks defenceman.
In his final year of high school at L'Essor Goudreault got a chance to run with his dream last week against Massey and made the most of the opportunity scoring three touchdowns to lead Les Aigles to a 42-0 win. "Hockey has always been my passion but I loved the adrenaline from the field."
His coach Nick Thrasher liked what he saw. "We finally got him in there at running back. He's never played football before. He's a hockey player but he was lights out so we're definitely gonna be giving him the ball a little bit more over the next few weeks."
Goudreault helped first-place L'Essor improve to 4-0 in the WECSSAA Tier 2 division. They'll put their undefeated record to the test Thursday afternoon at Holy Names when they take on St. Anne (3-1).
Goudreault will suit up for the Sharks (6-2) Wedneday night when they face 2nd place Blenheim (7-0).
Our Anthony Scalzo caught up with Goudreault following their Week 4 win.
