Sports Highlight: Lith Webb

Lith Webb was inducted into the Windsor Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2020.

The Kennedy grad is a former Olympian, NCAA champion and California University of Pennsylvania Athletics hall of famer who set 30 records as a Vulcan between 1995-98. Webb is the only student-athlete in school history to receive first team, national All-American honours four straight years. Her career batting average is a stellar .442.

She wrote a note to Powerplay Sports about her recent accolade and her time on the diamond.

I’m honoured to have my body of work recognized by Roger Awad and the Windsor Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame. I’m humbled as I’ve had the privilege of playing with wonderful talented players and coaches all my career, starting right here in my hometown with the Windsor Wildcats! I would like to thank Taryn Riley, Jim Stonehouse, Roger Awad, and Paul Scott’s nominations committee for this wonderful award. Lithnelene “Spider/vacuum “ Webb

It has been one of the highlights of my life playing for my country. Playing for California university of PA under coach Rick Bertagnolli has shaped my life. Winning two back to back NCAA national championships and three junior national championships in Canada, to be part of such an accomplishment is overwhelming! I love the game, and now I enjoy hearing about all the fun and exciting experiences shared by family and fans.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
