A storied college volleyball career is being recognized as Jason Hernandez will be inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame June 13th. “From the walk on rookie who was just excited to make a varsity team, to being able to play more important roles on the team such as being the go-to guy in pressure situations and eventually the leader younger players looked up to,” he said in a league statement
Hernandez started his career at Seneca where he led the Sting to a silver medal at provincials. He capped off his five-year collegiate journey at St. Clair College where he was named OCAA Player of the Year in his final season leading the Saints to an OCAA silver medal, the program's first ever provincial medal. St. Clair placed 4th at nationals and Hernandez was named to the First All-Tounament Team.
Hernandez is now a firefighter for the City of Windsor. “Being a first responder, it is common to rely on my coworkers and have them rely on me in stressful situations,” he said. “It also allowed me to meet many important people in my life such as, players and coaches.”
The award ceremony will be held in Niagara Falls.
