Vizirakis making difference on pitch for Vortex

The Tecumseh Vista Vortex are returning to the 2A final thanks to a pair of goals by Ruby Grundner in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Belle River.

It was the team's second win this week. Maria Vizirakis (pictured in the middle) led the Vortex to a 4-0 win Monday against Essex with a pair of goals. "She comes to play and her skill sets her apart." said head coach Matt Balmer. "When she came into the first tryout you could just see she had something a bit different."

Vizirakis is a Tecumseh Soccer Club travel player who started playing the game when she was 4 years old. She scored two goals to lead Vista to a 4-0 win over Essex in the AA quarter-finals Monday. "It's really excited. We've worked really hard to get here." Lauren Fitzpatrick and Ana Jelich also scored for the Vortex.

Vista went undefeated during the regular season with a 6-0 record while scoring 22 times. The only goal allowed so far this season was to the Nobles on late April during a 2-1 win.

The Vortex will square off against L'Essor next Wednesday at Holy Names.
