St. Clair College cross country runner Carter Free is off to a great start in Windsor. He was better than 79 runners from across the province at last weekend's invitational at Malden Park and earned the nod as provincial and national collegiate athlete of the week.
The Napanee, Ontario native also won a tune up meet the week before on the same hill against University of Windsor runners and almost set a course record.
He and the Saints are competing at the Bill Salter Western Invitational September 21st in London facing off against University athletes. St. Clair is hosting the OCAA championship October 26th.
Free ran for the Canada's this summer in Costa Rica at the Pan-Am U-20 Games and won a silver medal in the 1500m. He currently runs cross country but has big aspirations in the middle distance event.
