Fratmen open big against GTA

The St. Clair Fratmen scored early and often in their season opener against the GTA Grizzlies with a 63-1 win. After getting picked off on the Fratmen's first possession St. Clair scored every time they had the ball and built a 48-0 lead by halftime. "The interception wasn't even a quarterback thing. It popped off a receiver's hands. Beale played well" said head coach Mike Lachance.

He was pleased with the effort of his defence. "Our defence is very quick. Very active. Played very angry. We're a smaller group but we get to the football.

Lachance also liked the debut of running back Jacob Savoni who scored three touchdowns in his Fratmen debut. He said Savoni is, "everything we thought he would be. A super solid running back. Able to block. Able to run between the tackles. Enough speed to get out to the edge, catch the ball in the backfield".

The Fratmen now have a couple of weeks off before making their debut at St. Clair's sports park on September 11th against London. The Beefeaters beat Hamilton 24-10 Saturday.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
