Flyers on the brink of first Sutherland Cup title

Adrian Bosev scored at 15:37 of the third period to break a 2-2 deadlock and give the Leamington Flyers a 3-1 series lead in the best-of-seven Sutherland Cup final. The Flyers beat Stratford 4-2 and have a chance to win the franchise's first Sutherland Cup championship.

Connor MacPherson opened the scoring in the first with a highlight reel goal. The lead was shortlived as Patrick Cole scored his fourth goal of the series for the Warriors to tie it just over four minutes later.

Keaton McLaughlin tallied the lone second period goal on the powerplay as the Warriors took a 2-1 lead into the third.

That's where the Flyers scored three unanswered goals for the fourth time in the past five games to overcome a deficit and win.

"Once we got one everybody got up. The crowd got more into it and then it came." said Connor MacPherson who had a goal and an assist for the Flyers.

Owen Holmes got the ball rolling at the 6:54 and Cody Brekke capped the game with an empty netter. Sandwiched in between was Adrian Bosev's game winner on a tap from a Griffin Grundner shot that banked of the back board and landed in the Stratford crease.

The Warriors are hoping to deny the Flyers Saturday night and stay alive in the final by rebounding after a loss like they did Monday at home.

"Our compete level needs to be as high as ever and we just gotta keep chipping away, play with each other, play for each other and see what happens." said Warriors captain Zac McCann.
