The Leamington Flyers are preparing for either the Buffalo Jr. Sabres or Toronto Patriots in the second round of the OJHL playoffs. They advance after completing the sweep of Niagara Falls Friday night.
"Happy our group had to face some adversity in a game," said Dale Mitchell whose team battled back from deficits of 2-0 and 4-3 before winning the clinching game of the series in overtime. "We continued to press and got rewarded."
Brayden Degelas scored the game winner as the Flyers fired 63 shots at the Niagara net in the come from behind. The team now gets to rest before the second round begins.
"For our group it's a needed break off and back to work Monday for our series start on Friday."
Toronto beat Buffalo 6-2 Sunday night but the Jr. Sabres lead the series three-games to two. Game 6 is Tuesday night in Toronto with game 7, if necessary, scheduled for Thursday night.
So far in the West Conference playoffs top seeds (#2) Collingwood, (#3) Milton and (#1) Leamington have advance.
