Express warming up

The Windsor Express remained perfect home beating the Newfoundland Rogues 109-100 Wednesday night at the WFCU Centre. "Our motto this year is 'refuse to lose at home.'" said head coach Bill Jones whose squad is 3-0 at the WFCU Centre so far this season.

Windsor was led by Paul Harrison who had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Latin Davis had 22 and Chris Jones 21 for the Express who are 5-3 on the season and have won four of their last five games.

Jones got 41 points off the bench from Jones (21), Trendon Hankerson (10) and Sam Muldrow (10) compared to 17 for the Rogues. The Express haver more depth than a year ago but the team is always looking to improve. "I think we're still a player away," Jones said. "Another interior player that can defend and rebound. He was in the crowd. Hopefully he liked what he saw and be able to get an opportunity to bring him over."

The Express are third in the Basketball Super League standings with a chance to make a move on second place KW. "We play again on Friday (at home) against Kitchener who's got us twice at their place and we're looking for revenge."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
