As the calendar changes to a new month Assumption's Lauren Roberts can't help but think of where 2024 is taking her. "I am excited and looking forward to attending Bishop's (University) in the fall." said Roberts who committed to the Gaiters before Christmas.
She visited Bishop's a year ago and had a chance to train with the team under head coach Paul Ballard. "Met some of the girls who were all so welcoming and talented."
Roberts joins a Gaiters team that struggled last fall and finished 6th in the RSEQ conference with a 4-8-2 record.
The 17-year old is in the IB Diploma programme at Assumption High School because she values academics. "Bishop’s has amazing Science Programs that peaked my interest," said Roberts. "In particular a Biochemistry Major in hopes to prepare me for Med School."
Bishop's is located in Sherbrooke and with Roberts being bilingual, she looks forward to exploring the culture in Quebec.
She is gearing up for a summer season playing for Tecumseh United FC in the Women’s League One Ontario loop. "Once my teammates return from university, hopefully I can learn from them in terms of playing style and they can help me prepare for the next level," said Roberts. "I am excited for the future and what awaits!"
