Cole Davis is leading the LaSalle Vipers in scoring this year. The coaching staff really like him. "He's an elite player in our league and despite his age has an impact every shift." said head coach Matt Beaudoin.
The Sutton, Ontario native leads the Vipers with 17 goals and is tied with defenceman Brady Hamlin for the scoring lead with 35 points.
For his efforts the Windsor Spitfires signed the 16-year old to an OHL Standard Player Agreement Wednesday. "This is a great signing and one we have anticipated." said general manager Bill Bowler, who has attended many Vipers games this season. "Cole has performed well and has developed as planned with the LaSalle Vipers. He is a versatile forward that comes to play every game."
Davis was selected in the 4th round of last year's draft and played in the GOJHL Future Stars Game in December. "It's an honour to sign, and a lifetime achievement." said Davis who can't wait to get started with his OHL career.
He'll remain a Viper but could be called up by the Spitfires if needed. Beaudoin says he was glad Bowler assigned Davis to LaSalle to start the season and is proud to see him sign. "He deserves this honour and recognition. Going to love seeing him fly around the WFCU next year."
