Daniels dreaming of NFL

Brennan grad Dante Daniels recently scored his first NCAA Division 1 touchdown on 14-yard play against North Carolina in a 35-30 win over the Tar Heels. "It felt so surreal. Scoring against our biggest rivals was a dream come true." Daniels told Powerplay Sports.

After graduating high school Daniels, a former Essex Raven, went to Butler Community College where he became a team captain and won all-conference honours. He transferred to NC State in January. "I am so thankful that God put me in the position I am today with being able to play Division 1 Power 4 football and having my fiance by my side during everything."

The 22-year old has dreams of following other Windsor-made tight ends (Luke Willson and Theo Johnson) to the NFL. "I always have the goal of making it to the NFL." Daniels said. "Watching Theo make it as a tight end from Windsor had helped put in perspective how it is possible to make it out of Windsor the way he did."

Daniels and the Wolfpack will play East Carolina December 28th at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in the Go Bowling Military Bowl.

"Very excited, I get an extra game to play with some players that are graduating and one more game to get better and get extra film. Film is my resume to get to the next level."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
