Kyla Charlebois sealed the Jamieson Jr. Golf Tour championship Monday at Beach Grove. The Villanova student shot a five-over-77 to finish third which was good enough to help Charlebois become the first repeat champ on the girls side since Kingsville's Alyssa Getty in 2012-13.
The Pointe West golfer won four tour events this summer and finished with 117.5 points. Kennedy Fremlin was second with 111. points. Vanessa Ardovini, Alyssa Cowling and Emily Young round out the top 5.
Karolyn Rombouts had a strong summer with four wins but only played five events finishing seventh with 98.5 points.
On the boys side Tyler Hurtubise took the overall title becoming the first to win three straight since the inception of the tour in 1988. "Yes it feels great as always to win" said Hurtubise. "But the bigger picture is it gives me the confidence to move on to bigger and better things knowing that I can be one of a kind". Hurtubise says he had fun competing this season because the boys he played against, "made it very fun to compete each event".
Bryce Evon (2013-14) and two others have repeated as winners.
Robert McVinnie claimed the men's collegiate title after winning a three hole playoff at Beach Grove against Aidan Webster. Both were tied with 112 on the season. Georgia Volland won the collegiate women's division.
