Battle for boys title intensifies on Jamieson Golf Tour

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

The weather wasn't ideal but Mother Nature didn't rain on Kevin Teichroeb's parade. The Orchard View golfer shot a one-under par-71 to win event #7 at Beach Grove Monday afternoon. "First nine, ten holes...a lot of rain but I felt I played a good round. Confident the whole way through."

Teichroeb beat Roseland's Aiden Hill by one stroke followed by Konner McDermott and Jackson Pracey at 74.

His best hole of the day was on the first hole. He dropped his second shot on the par-4 about three feet from the cup and went on to score his first of four birdies on the day. "It's a good way to start off your round for sure."

The win propelled the 17-year old into first place in the overall standings knocking Jax Sisson, who missed Beach Grove, out of the top spot heading into the final event Thursday at Kingsville. "It's definitely nice to be in first going into the last one. You have a little advantage. A lot of people at the top. Anyone can win."

Karolyn Rombouts of Maple City won the junior girls event with a one-over-73. Tour leader Vanessa Ardovini, of Roseland, posted a 77 and has an eight point lead on Maple City's Hannah Butzer with one event left.

Kennedy Fremlin (75) and Aidan Webster (71) won their respective events in the collegiate divisions.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
