Austin Brown wins contest and MVP

Austin Brown was an easy choice for MVP during the WECSSAA Tier 1 All-Star game at St. Clair College's Sportsplex Saturday night. He scored 27 points leading the green team to a 79-75 win over team white.

The Holy Names standout also won the three-point shooting contest. The heavy favourite needed to score more than 27 points to beat his schoolmate Keelan Laporte.

Brown started slow shooting from the left side of the arch but caught his groove when he moved to the middle.

Brown needed to hit one of his last four shots to win. He missed the first three and sunk his final shot in dramatic fashion for the win.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
