Area wrestlers celebrate success

The photo below shows seven of the ten Windsor-Essex medalists at the high school wrestling championships in Sault Ste. Marie earlier this week.


"This shows a unified effort by all coaches in Windsor to ensure the success of Wrestling in Windsor" said Holy Names head coach Frank Mancin, "It was wonderful to see coaches from the Windsor schools supporting each other".


The wrestlers are as follows: Top Row left: Gabriel Sementilli (gold), Roger Li (gold), Ambrose Lawrence (silver), Brendan Kwarayi (bronze), Jake Goldman (silver), Francesco Mancina (silver), Bottom Row left: Selena Renaud (fifth), Sophia Bechard (fourth), Madelyn Nelson (fifth), Dani Burt (fourth), Larissa Weston (fifth)Missing: Ibrahim Wafai (silver), Coleton Nacarrato (sixth), Myah Trymbulak (gold), Rhianne Price (fifth), Ahmad Hammoud (sixth).



The Massey team finished 5th. Massey's Roger Li won gold in the 130 kilo division without having a point scored against him the whole tournament


"Overall the region showed we're one of the strongest in the province" said L'Essor head coach David Tremblay. He was happy to see wrestlers going out of their way to watch their Essex-County counterparts in aciton. "They wanted the best for each other".
