Tre Altiman has made a seemless transition to Jr. A hockey with the Leamington Flyers. The soon to be 19-year old has started six of Leamington first nine games and compiled a 5-1 record with a 2.17 GAA and 0.924 save percentage.
"It's close to home. A great organization. This one's (OJHL) is faster. Every player has a shot and is able to score. It's great. I love it."
The Chatham native was a reliable workhorse in his final year in the GOJHL with LaSalle last season and has picked up where he left off. "I had a lot of games played. A lot of shots on me," said Altiman who was looking to make the move to the OJHL. "It helped me to prepare for Jr. A."
Altiman is sharing the crease with 20-year old Marcus Vandenberg (2-0-1) who has three years of OHL experience with Kitchener, Niagara and Sudbury. "We have two good goalies," Altiman told Powerplay Sports. "We just want to push for the championship this year."
The Flyers are third in the West Conference with a 7-1 record and have two games in hand on first place Burlington. They host Georgetown Thursday night before hitting the road for two tough games against 8-1 Trenton and 5-3 King Rebellion who have allowed only four goals in their last three games and are undefeated in that span.
