If the winter has been any indication, Stephanie Aldea is on the right track in her return to running. The St. Anne grad has been training hard and helping out the Windsor Lancers.
In November she ran a rust busting 1500m at the return of the Blue/Gold meet in 4:25. "I'm definitely not track sharp but it was fun to just go out and hurt for seven and a half laps," Aldea said at the time.
After about a year and a half off Aldea returned to running in the summer of 2021. The thirty-something ran a couple of 8k's last fall before heading indoors.
Two weeks ago she paced a couple of events at UWindsor's Can-Am Classic which she used as a tune up for her final 3k of the season in Boston the following weekend where she ran a personal best 9:12. "Overall it was a good indoor season," said Aldea who ran a personal best 4:39 mile this season, "I've come a long way from the 4:25 1500m I ran in November,"
Aldea enters a six-week training period and hopes to start her outdoor season with a big 5k at either the Penn Relays or Peyton Jordan. "I am excited for the outdoor season and I want to continue to get a little better each week. Who knows what can happen."
